The objectives of a psychological assessment at Maison de la famille are to assess (a) intellectual abilities, (b) learning skills (for school-aged children only), (c) attention capacities, (d) social and emotional development, and (e) to verify the possible presence of neurodevelopmental disorders or other mental health diagnoses relevant to childhood and adolescence. A psychological assessment helps guide recommendations for potential interventions in preschool or school programming, at home, as well as in individual and/or family therapy.
The fee for a psychological assessment is fixed at $5000.00. This fee includes: 2 meetings with the parents (approximately 1.5 hours each), 3 meetings with the child (approximately 1.5 hours each), a virtual case discussion with the daycare or school team and/or an observation at school or daycare, the time required for reviewing the school file and previous assessment reports, scoring and interpretation of psychological tests, a virtual case conference with the school or daycare staff, and the preparation of a written report.
Additional fees apply, at our hourly rate, for travel if the school or daycare is located outside the Moncton–Riverview–Dieppe region.
We recommend that you contact your insurance provider (if applicable) to verify reimbursement options for psychological consultations for each family member.
